Gil has been a freelance illustrator and cartoonist and has taught classes in drawing and painting. He was, for many years, Senior Graphic Designer and Staff Illustrator for a Fortune 500 corporation in the heart of New England. Gil brings to his work a sensitive awareness of design impact and textural clarity.

His landscapes and still lifes are characterized by a tightly controlled handling of lights and shadows intermingled with exquisite detail. His paintings are in oil on gessoed, untempered masonite, using an underpainting / overpainting technique characteristic of the Old Masters.

Gil is a graduate of The Paier School of Art and has attended Pratt Institute. He has studied under Kostolo, Wangro and Rigby as well as national illustrators Ken Davies and Birney Lettick. He has taught open-ended private classes, programmed classes and adult education programs.

His seasoned technique evokes feelings of nostalgia for a time of hard work and great self-reliance, as an avoracious economy buries New England's heritage beneath the blade of the bulldozer. Early New England comes alive under his brush.

Gil is an invitee to the Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea, Citta di Firenze.
